CAV-007 Devorgilla Bridge

Devorgilla Bridge, Dumfries, as seen from a window of the Old Bridge House Museum on a “lovely” August afternoon. The building to the left is Dumfries Court House and the spire to the right is Greyfriars church. The sandstone bridge dates from the early 1430’s and was funded by Margaret the Dutchess of Touraine the wife of the 4th Earl of Douglas and replaced a wooden bridge(s) which was funded by Devorgilla Bailiol.…
