CAV-056 Mote Of Mark

Looking east from the Mote of Mark along the cliff tops towards Sandyhills.

The Motte of Mark was a hilltop fort overlooking the Urr estuary. The site was occupied during the 6th century and appears to have been destroyed by fire in the 7th century. You can visit the headland site by taking a well defined footpath from the villages of Kipford and Rockliffe.
